Nana's Crescent Cookies

Nana's famous crescent cookies are actually made by my grandmother's recipe. This isn't just some advertising ploy. Are these cookies famous? Well, in the family, most definitely. As for the outside opinion, I brought some to school to see how they fair.

Right before leaving home, we had a "Cooking Festival," the name my Dad applied to explain the massive amounts of butter, powdered sugar, and flour used up in 24 hours. He looked on in horror as the pile of mixing bowls, spoons, and measuring cups overflowed out of the sink.

Despite a bit of initial trial and error with the recipe, I hit the sweet spot in making the batter, rolling it out, and producing around six trays of cookies.

I think my number one fan when I make these cookies (maybe it will become an annual 'festival') is my grandfather. I brought a box to him right before dinner and his eyes lit up with excitement when I opened the lid. As soon as my grandmother reluntantly gave him the go ahead to try one, he did. (She wanted him to leave room for dinner.) He smiled while finishing up the cookie, told me I did a good job, and that they were better than the ones he tried in the Vienna Christmas markets.

My grandmother, a huge chocolate fanatic, was hopefully able to taste the gluten free chocolate cookies I gave her. I'll come back with any reviews I get when I see her next. :)
