Burger Tex 2
It’s actually cold in Austin, Texas! 30 degree weather has hit, but it’s not wholly unbearable. Burger Tex 2 is right next to this awesome, rather fashionable thrift shop. This was a place that was bringing back the fashions of my parents’ generation. As my friend put it, if you match it with the right pieces, you’d totally fly right now. (Okay, that was my interpretation, but it gets at what she said).
After browsing, we stepped into the small and pretty empty shop next door. Generally these are not the signs that I look for in a good, local bite to eat. The shop was quaint and the atmosphere enjoyable. The interior was brightly painted and propped up behind the counter was a colorful portrait of a woman.
We were advised to split their SXSW burger combo - beef patty or bulgogi, avocado, grilled pineapple, cheese, and bacon. We added lettuce, onion, pickles, and tomato for ourselves and it also came with fries and onion rings. It wouldn’t have been an American burger without the cheese and bacon, an Austin burger without the avocado and grilled pineapple, and a Korean burger(?) without the bulgogi. Every element was on point and necessary for the complete and unique experience of the South by Southwest burger.
I’m still a food blogger in training, because I forgot to take the photo first. Once again I must post partially eaten food.
