Hello From one foodie to another
Breakfast in Hong Kong
I was surprised to find that so little Mandarin is spoken in Hong Kong, ...
but good food can't be stopped by a small language barrier.

My bowl had pieces of chicken and preserved egg mixed in. I noticed that this zhou was a bit thicker and creamier than the zhou I get at home. After my first bite, I realized how much I missed these kinds of simple breakfast foods that I had grown accustomed to in Beijing.

with dried shrimp and scallions. One of my favorite dishes to order, but different from what I get at home. This one had small dried shrimp with a peanut dipping sauce. Flavorful and simple, just the way I like breakfast.

We were directed towards Wah Cheong to find zhou - a common Chinese breakfast food. My father and I were the only tourists in the small shop, but we managed to get two bowls of zhou (one seafood and one chicken with preserved egg) amidst the rest of the business people on their way to work.
