Shaved Ice Upgrade 2.0 - Snow Monster
This dessert was just something new I encountered in Austin. Apparently it's a popular,but less well known Taiwanese dessert, called snow ice. I've read a little bit about this dessert and it seems to be ice cream that is frozen into very hard blocks which are then shaved into extremely thin ribbons. It can then be topped with any number of fresh fruits, mochi, or tapioca pearls. This was different from shaved ice, in that it was not as watery. It really tasted like milk tea, versus bits of ice topped with concentrated milk tea. It was also surprisingly well paired with mango.
