Just under an hour on the streets of Hong Kong (香港)
Despite more than twenty-four hours of travelling, my night was only filled with restless sleep. (I was worried I'd miss my 11am departure the next day.) Since I was up and about by about 7:30am, I carb loaded on congee (粥) before setting out to see what I could of Hong Kong in forty minutes. I managed to escape the maze-like complex that combined the hotel, mall, and train station and make my way out into the streets. There was an international school and multiple bus stops, girls on their way to school, and older couples already running about. I made my way down a winding hill that brought me to a busy street filled with banks, shops, produce stores, and much more. The smells and sights reminded me of what I see in New York's Chinatowns, with a bit less noise and grime. It all looked a little run down, but the bustle of business men and women, small children, and old people shopping or on their daily walks told me that these streets were just well worn with activity.
More to come about the food, but I thought I'd just post a few photos of what I've seen so far.
