Cuchifritos
Musings from today's excursion.
Today, I was introduced to Puerto Rican cuchifritos - various fried foods made mostly of pork. I allowed my friends to take the reigns in terms of ordering food. While Latin food is not altogether foreign to me, these particular dishes were new.
What we ate: chicharron (fried pork belly), roasted pork shoulder, black beans and rice, steamed(?) yuca, and pasteles (similar to a tamale, but made of plantains rather than corn)
I have to agree with my friends that yuca does in fact taste better than Idaho potatoes. There is more flavor and it doesn't come across as dried out as some of the Idaho potatoes I've eaten.
Overall, 10/10. I'm bringing friends and family here the next time we need to grab a bite.
